So, last night - hours after the six-year old nephew had left, well after the markers should have been stored away and the packing for our long weekend begun - Kim Jong-Illmatic and I were still on the couch, watching "Ace of Cakes" and remarking how everyone who works there appears to be permanently high (especially Geoff), and doodling away.
I wanted to draw a unicorn, so I asked Kim Jong-Illmatic to sketch me a horse because I tried and tried and I couldn't get the basic shape right.
He sketched me an animal that was a magical mix of dog and horse.
Behold, the mythical horse-dog unicorn, desired by many, seen by only a few!
I think I should be saluted for my spectroscopically correct rainbow. I salute you, Mr. Roy G. Biv, and you, 5th grade teacher Ms. Schechter, for teaching me several anagrams I will never forget.
Kim Jong-Illmatic went back to the drawing board, so to speak, and sketched me a more realistic horsey. This one isn't magical - just having a nice day in a sunny, verdant field of green.
For some reason, my scanner cut off the brilliant - brilliant, I tell you! - sun and birds I sketched in the corner. Bastard scanner. What did I ever do to you?
In anticipatory answer to your questions: No, we don't have any children, and infrequently entertain any in our house. Yes, we do have a large collection of permanent markers. Maybe - just maybe - the Sharpie fumes were getting to me.
Happy Labor Day weekend, Americanos!
